Overview
HARUKA is the JR West limited express linking Kansai Airport with Tennoji, Osaka, Shin-Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. Choose your route and direction below. Most options are an exchange voucher that you swap for a printed ticket at the station, at a JR ticketing counter or a green automated ticket machine. The WEST QR option works differently and activates on your phone. The ticket details for the option you select say which applies.

How to use your ticket

- At the station, take the voucher to a green automated ticket machine or the JR ticket counter and scan the QR code.
- Collect the printed ticket the machine or counter issues.

- Collect the printed ticket and enter through the ticket gate.
- The attached PDF is your final pass for the attractions. Show it at each facility, and check opening hours and closing days before you go.
Selected option Kansai Airport to Kyoto, plus Kyoto Railway Museum and Kyoto Aquarium
- Two vouchers arrive by email: one for the HARUKA train, one for the Kyoto Railway Museum and Kyoto Aquarium.
- At JR Kansai Airport Station, scan the train voucher's QR code at a green automated ticket machine to exchange it for a printed ticket.
- Collect the printed ticket and enter through the staffed ticket gate.
- Show the second voucher's QR code at each attraction when you arrive.

- Show the second voucher's QR code at the shop on the day of travel, checking opening hours first.
Selected option Kansai Airport to Kyoto, plus First-Time Kabuki theatre ticket
- Two vouchers arrive by email: one for the HARUKA train, one for the Kyoto theatre performance.
- At JR Kansai Airport Station, scan the train voucher's QR code at a green automated ticket machine to exchange it for a printed ticket.
- Collect the printed ticket and enter through the staffed ticket gate.
- Show the second voucher's QR code at the theatre on the day of the performance.
Selected option HARUKA one way, Kansai Airport to Tennoji, plus HARUKAS 300 admission
- Two vouchers arrive by email: one for the HARUKA train, one for ABENO HARUKAS 300 Observatory.
- At JR Kansai Airport Station, scan the train voucher's QR code at a green automated ticket machine to exchange it for a printed ticket.
- Collect the printed ticket and enter through the staffed ticket gate.
- Show the second voucher's QR code at the observatory entrance.
Selected option Kansai Airport to Osaka, plus Nemophila Festival 2026 (WEST QR)
- You receive two PDF files by email containing three e-vouchers in total. Nothing is exchanged at a machine for this ticket.
- Open the WEST QR User Site from the link in your voucher, create an account with your email, a password and your country, then link your ticket from the prompt or by entering the serial number.
- Reserve your HARUKA seat on the User Site. Reservations open 30 days before departure and close 3 minutes before the train leaves, and cannot be made at a station counter or ticket machine.
- On the day, log in on your phone, select the ticket and tap Use Ticket to activate it.
- Scan the QR code on your phone at the red reader on the ticket gate. Where a station has no gate reader, scan the wall-mounted WEST QR code nearby.
- Screenshots and printed QR codes are not accepted, and your phone needs an internet connection at the gate.
- Show the Nemophila Festival voucher at the venue. That ticket is for ages 16 and over.

Important information
Important rules
- Who can travel: anyone holding a passport issued outside Japan and entering on Temporary Visitor status. A penalty fare is charged at the station if you travel without qualifying.
- Ages: adult tickets cover 12 and over, child tickets cover 6 to 11. Up to two infants aged 1 to 5 travel free with a ticket holder; from the third, buy a child ticket.
- Bring your passport: your landing permission must show Temporary Visitor status, and staff check it when you collect the ticket. If you clear immigration without getting a stamp or sticker in your passport, ask an officer for one before you leave the arrivals hall.
- Collection varies by ticket: a JR ticketing counter, a green automated ticket machine, or activation on your phone for the WEST QR option.
- Validity: 90 days from booking, except the WEST QR Nemophila option, which is valid on the day of use only.
- One way only: each option is a single journey. Book the return separately.
- Book your train time in advance: the ticket covers one journey on a designated date and time.
- Faster than local trains: HARUKA makes limited stops.
- Service hours: trains run 06:00 to 23:30 every day.
- About the photos: the train shown carries a Hello Kitty design. Decoration varies between services and is not part of what you book, so the train on your journey may look different.
Terms and conditions
- Aged 12 or above (on the date of issuance of the exchange certificate or when purchasing the rail pass).
- Hold a passport issued by a government other than Japan.
- Hold a status of residence equivalent to “temporary stay”.
- "Temporary stay" is a status of residence stipulated in Japan's Immigration Control Law.
- If you find that you are not eligible for use during the use of the ticket, an additional fee for improper use will be charged. Please pay special attention and confirm your status of residence.
- HARUKA TICKET Kansai Airport→ Osaka・Shin-Osaka [Special Edition One-way Ticket] : Valid for 90 days after the reservation date.
- 1,000 yen in-store shopping mall "LUCUA osaka" directly connected to Osaka Station : Valid for 90 days after the reservation date.
Common questions
Which route should I choose?
Pick the station closest to where you are staying. Tennoji serves southern Osaka and Abeno, Osaka and Shin-Osaka serve the city centre and the Shinkansen platforms, and there are separate routes for Kyoto, Kobe and Nara. Each option covers one journey in one named direction, so book one ticket for the way in and a second for the way out.
Can I board straight away with what you send me?
It depends on the option you choose. Most are an exchange voucher: show the QR code at a JR ticketing counter or a green automated ticket machine to collect the printed ticket before you board. The WEST QR option activates on your phone instead and has no collection step. The ticket details for your selected option state which route applies.
How long is the ticket valid?
Eighteen of the options are valid for 90 days from the booking date, which is why no travel date is asked for at checkout. The WEST QR Nemophila option is the exception and is valid on the day of use only.
