Overview

KL Hop On Hop Off runs the only open-top double-decker sightseeing bus in Kuala Lumpur, on two routes: the City Route in red, which takes in the skyscrapers and the old centre, and the Garden Route in green. You get on and off as often as you like within the pass period, with recorded commentary on board. There are separate evening tours, which are fixed-departure rather than hop-on.

  • Accessibility: Children below the age of 5 travel for free.
  • Restriction: Smoking, eating and drinking are strictly prohibited on the bus.
Terms and conditions
  • Malaysian and visitor rates are priced differently. The visitor rate is double the Malaysian one, so this is a costly one to get wrong.
  • The day passes are valid for 24 or 48 hours from first use, and must be started within 30 days of booking.
  • The evening City of Lights tours are fixed departures on a chosen date, not hop-on-hop-off.
  • Once you have confirmed a date and time for an evening tour it cannot be cancelled.
  • Children under 5 travel free.
  • No smoking, eating or drinking on board.

Buying the wrong rate costs you the difference KL Hop On Hop Off charges visitors exactly double: RM31 against RM62 at cost for a 24-hour adult. There is no small top-up here, the gap is the whole fare again. You are not usually turned away, but you pay the gap at the counter, and it is more than the saving.

Book in the traveller's own name, spelled as it appears on their IC or passport. Both are checked at the counter and a mismatch can mean refused entry with no refund.
