The Wulai Scenic Train — locally known as the Wulai Log Cart or Wulai Handcar Railway — is a charming and historically rich narrow-gauge railway experience nestled in the lush mountain township of Wulai, located approximately 26 kilometres south of central Taipei in New Taipei City. Originally constructed during the Japanese colonial period in the early 20th century to transport timber and camphor logs down from the densely forested mountain slopes, the railway has since been lovingly preserved and reimagined as a scenic tourist attraction that carries visitors along a picturesque 1.6-kilometre route from Wulai Old Street to the Wulai Waterfall area and the entrance to the Wulai Atayal tribal village.
