Japan KDDI eSIM Setup Guide

Follow the numbered steps for your phone.

Before you start

Connect to the internet and install your eSIM before you fly.
If it shows “Activating”, don’t worry. It will activate once you arrive in Japan.

For iOS Devices

“Tap and hold” is only available on iOS 17.4 or later for QR code installations or links.
1. 1From the email, tap and hold the QR code.
2. 2Add eSIM.
3. *Or you may simply scan the QR code.
1. 3Select “Allow”.
1. 4Set label for your eSIM.
1. 5Select this eSIM as Mobile Data default line.
1. 6Mobile Data select “Travel”.
1. 7Turning off the ‘Primary’ line overseas helps smoothen the activation process. Re-enable it once the travel eSIM is activated.

If “Tap and hold” in the email doesn’t work, download the QR code and try “Tap and hold” on the saved image.
1. 1From the email, tap and hold the QR code.
2. 2Select “Add plan to phone”.
1. 3Press “Add”.
1. 4eSIM added and selected.
1. 5Go back and select “Mobile Data” > eSIM 1.
